Hexploring 2024
I’ve kicked off 2024 by dedicating each day to playing #hexplore24, inspired by Monsters & Mazes. This solo adventure, a West Marches-style hexcrawl, uniquely intertwines real-time with game time — each day in the real world equates to one in-game day. Now, six days into 2024, my hexcrawl journey has spanned an equal number of in-game days. This approach adds an intriguing twist to the daily challenge concept, much like last year's Dungeon23 craze.
A crucial aspect of solo TTRPGs, I believe, is 'meta journaling' — the practice of regularly reflecting on what aspects of your game are working or not. This helps tailor future sessions, tools, and procedures to enhance fluency and enjoyment in your gaming experience.
Through this blog, I aim to share my evolving insights into what makes solo play gratifying, hoping to inspire others in their own TTRPG adventures.
